Recreation is viewed by many as an important factor in maintaining physical and mental health. Recreation is an integral and necessary element of our daily life. Recreation includes sports, social contacts and intellectual, cultural and natural environment experiences.
The Martinsburg - Berkeley County Parks and Recreation Board is a combined City - County Board which develops, operates and maintains all City of Martinsburg and Berkeley County recreation facilities and programs. As of February 1993, the Parks and Recreation Board operates 85.5 acres of parkland within the City of Martinsburg. Facility sizes range from one acre to thirty acres.

Ambrose Park

Facilities: | 2 maintenance garages, outdoor pool with bath house (currently under construction), concession stand, lighted miniature golf course, tennis courts, 4 pavilions, concert stage and bleachers, 4 playground areas, 12 station fitness center, picnic tables and parking facilities. This park is home to a number of special events throughout the year. |
