Metered Parking & Parking Tickets


The Public Works Department installs parking meters located in the downtown area. Parking meters are located in the following City blocks:

100, 200 N. Queen St.
100, 200, 300 S. Queen St.
100, 200 W. John St.
100 W. Martin St.
100, 200 E. Martin St.
200 E. Race St.
200 W. Race St.
100, 200 W. Burke St.
100 E. Burke St.
100, 200 N. College St.
100, 200, 300 S. College St.
100, 200, 300, 400, 500 W. King St.
100, 200 E. King St.
Public Square
Library

Metered parking is also available in the public parking lots:

100 E. Burke St.
100 W. Burke St.
City Hall Lot 100 W. Race St.

The City employs Parking Meter Attendants for the purpose of patrolling all metered areas and issuing notices of violation to any driver or owner of any vehicle in violation of the parking rules of the City.

In order that the time during which a vehicle is parked in a parking meter space may be properly and conveniently computed, the owner or operator of a vehicle entering the space shall immediately deposit a five-cent coin, ten-cent coin or twenty-five cent coin in the parking meter adjacent to the parking meter space. Metered hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The purpose of parking meter fees is to cover the costs of the supervision, inspection, installation, operation, maintenance, control and use of the parking meter spaces and the regulation of the parking of vehicles in the parking meter zones.
