  • PREPARING RECYCLABLES

The City of Martinsburg encourages you to separate glass by color, to help facilitate curb side collection. Aluminum and steel/tin cans can be placed together. When recycling your plastic you do not have to crush it. Look on the bottom of the plastic bottles and jugs for a triangle with a number inside. If the number is a 1 or a 2 it will be recycled (we encourage you to buy plastics that will be recycled through our program). Labels may remain on all recyclables, and a quick rinse is all that is necessary when preparing recyclables. Metal and plastic rings may remain on glass bottles. City residents and business owners are required to provide their own rigid containers for curb side recycling. Please do not use plastic garbage bags, paper bags, or cardboard boxes as recycling containers.
